Just like the rum itself, rum enthusiasts come from all over the world. And where you can find someone drinking rum, you'll often find someone talking, writing, and/or filming content about rum. This living list of content creators includes personal friends, fellow reviewers, and other outlets that contribute to the online rum community in various media.

Blogs & Reviews

  • 88 Bamboo: English-language website that follows all things spirits/cocktails for the broader East/Southeast Asian regions. They provide great coverage of many rum releases, festivals, and markets that don't typically get traction in America.
  • Wild Fermentations: personal blog from Robbie Honerkamp that has a host of different types of posts about spirits– but mainly rum. Lately, I've gotten a lot of value from his posts analyzing the monthly label approvals by the TTB.
  • The Lone Caner: written and self-published by Lance Surujbally, this site is a treasure trove of information about all things rum, going back over 15 years. Lance's long-form reviews cover seemingly every rum on the planet, and are well-known for nuance and technical expertise.
  • Malt Runners: While the website includes other spirit reviews, the resident rum reviewer goes by the moniker "The Auditor" aka "The Auditor Reviews" on Instagram or LIFOanAccountant on the rum subreddit. He's got an impressive catalog of reviews, and is very active throughout the rum community
  • The Rum Barrel: UK-based blog from Alexandru Sandu, reviewing rums that are typically found across the pond.

Podcasts

  • The Rumcast: perhaps the best-known rum-related podcast, Will Hoekenga and John Gulla explore "all things rum", interviewing producers, bottlers, brand reps, and has loads of other engaging episodes including per-country breakdowns, budget guides, and even a rum draft.
  • To the Rum: co-hosted by Bryan Inman and Constantine Panayiotou, this series also explores rum happenings and includes interviews with producers.

YouTube Channels

  • Different Spirits: Scott's rum reviews feel more like conversations rather than broadcasts, as he walks viewers through the bottle at hand in front of his home library. Bottles reviewed span the entire rum world, and also includes plenty of reviews focusing on, well, different spirits.
  • The Lone Caner: The YouTube channel of Lance from The Lone Caner, in case you want to literally hear from the man himself as he works his way through rum reviews.
  • Ready Set Rum: Jamé brings us his reviews from Miami, and includes both sit-down deep dives of bottles as well as more lighthearted voyages
  • The Rum Revival: I view Arminder as the video analog to the Rumcast, since he has a multitude of different types of videos, from single bottle reviews, new release analysis, to exploration on how to use rums in cocktails.

These creators provide a fantastic starting point for anyone looking to deepen their appreciation of all things rum.
